Warranty Policy

Built for New Zealand. Backed by Experience.

At Kiwi Camping, we design gear to handle the realities of the New Zealand outdoors. From coastal winds to alpine rain, our products are built to perform in the conditions Kiwi campers know well.

Since 1987, our team of camping enthusiasts and innovators has been designing and refining gear to make camping easier, more comfortable, and more enjoyable. Every product is carefully researched, tested and improved so you can head outdoors with confidence.

Because we stand behind the quality of our gear, all Kiwi Camping products are covered by a product warranty.

Our Warranty Commitment

Kiwi Camping products are warranted against defects in materials and workmanship for the warranty period specific to each product, starting from the original date of purchase.

If a product fails due to a manufacturing fault during the warranty period, Aber Living Ltd, the distributor of Kiwi Camping in New Zealand, will repair or replace the item at its discretion.

The exact warranty period varies depending on the product and will be outlined in the documentation supplied at the time of purchase.

Tent Care & Maintenance

Proper care of your Kiwi Camping tent will ensure it lasts for many adventures. Follow these tips to protect your investment and enjoy the best performance from your gear.

General Tent Care

  • Condensation: Normal from breath vapour, perspiration, cooking nearby, or wet clothing. Minimise by keeping vents open, airing out your tent, and removing wet gear.
  • Familiarise yourself: Practice setting up your tent at home before heading outdoors.
  • Site selection: Pitch on flat, debris-free ground. Avoid sharp objects, soggy areas, overhead powerlines, and beware of tree debris or sap.
  • UV exposure: Avoid prolonged direct sunlight to protect fabric and waterproofing.
  • Structural care: Keep frames and fabric taut but not overstressed. Hold flaps up when closing zips.
  • Tent pegs: Remove by pulling pegs, never loops or fabric.
  • Guy ropes: Always pitch out all guy ropes, even in calm weather, for stability.

Canvas Tent Care

  • Keep fabric clean and dry; check regularly for mildew.
  • If mildew appears, brush off gently before it attaches. Avoid harsh chemicals.
  • Ensure proper ventilation during storage to prevent mould and fabric deterioration.

Cleaning & Maintenance

  • Polyester tents: Clean regularly with fresh water and a soft brush. Rinse away salt, dirt, and plant matter immediately. Avoid soap, detergents, and harsh chemicals.
  • Zippers: Unzip completely, clean with soft brush or cloth in soapy water, rinse, and dry. Use silicone spray or paraffin wax lightly if sticking occurs — avoid contact with fabric.
  • Air tubes & frames: Inspect for damage and maintain per product instructions.

Storage

  • Always store tents dry in a well-ventilated area, preferably off the floor.
  • Do not pack away damp; mildew damage is not covered by warranty.
