  • Instructions
  • 5000mm aqua rated The waterproofness of polyester is rated in mm which refers to water column height in millimetres. This fabric will withstand a 5000mm column of water for more than one minute before a single drop might appear through the fabric. The thicker the coating the longer the aqua rating lasts so Kiwi Camping double-coat our polyester, meaning our aqua rating is the minimum waterproofness, rather than the maximum.
  • 75 denier fabric We use a medium density/high thread count (Denier) polyester PU coated fabric for the fly, which we have developed over many years. This fabric has superior tensile strength and is 8 times more durable than nylon. It doesn't stretch or sag when wet like nylon does and is a heavier quality than comparable fabrics.
  • Seam sealed The seams of your dome tent or shelter are the most vulnerable for water leakage. We use a custom-developed method of heat-sealing tape over the seams to maintain waterproofing, resulting in maximum protection against the elements at all points.
  • Twin stitched seams Lap felled seam construction (doubling seams around on each other) with twin stitching ensures maximum strength around the seams of your canvas tent.
  • UV protection For added safety and comfort the fabric has UPF 50+UV protection.
  • Fire retardant The fabric has also been treated with a fire retardant solution. Even with this protection, ensure you take particular care around heat and flames. Avoid using open flame, heating or cooking appliances in or around your tent.
  • Fibreglass poles Our StructureFlex fibreglass poles are the largest diameter possible, relative to the size of the tent. This ensures you get maximum strength at minimum weight. They are also coloured to match the coloured pole sleeves.
  • Power mesh pole sleeves Our Takahe and Kea dome tents use power mesh for the pole sleeves which make it easier to feed the poles through. If you were to cause a rip in the material it will not tear like a polyester pole sleeve would.
  • Pin and ring pole attachment Quick and easy pole assembly and dismantling system.
  • Guy rope attachment This guy rope attachment spreads the tension evenly and pulls from the frame giving more support.
  • Quality zips, ropes and poles All our tents use heavy duty coil zips, guy ropes and poles so you can be assured your tent will last for many years of exciting family camping holidays.
  • Tri-tensioners We use triangle-shaped guy rope tensioners rather than in-line tensioners to ensure the ropes do not slip.
  • Speedhook clips Fast and efficient for erecting the tent. Flexibility allows for movement in windy conditions.
  • No-see-um mesh Even small bugs can't get through our no-see-um-mesh. Enjoy insect free living with ample air circulation.
  • Accessory pockets Accessory pockets provide handy storage for smaller items and valuables.
  • Storage pockets Handy storage to easily locate important items and to minimise clutter.
  • Lantern hanging points Conveniently located tabs to hang LED lanterns.

Outstanding tent! Very sturdy and very easy to put up. We use this for outdoor camping at school and have used in both hot and very treacherous cold weather. I am super impressed with the mesh sleeves for the poles as they create the ability for longer-lasting and windy weather.

I am just wanted to commend one of your products – Last year I traveled to the Isle of Man to watch the TT Isle of Man motorcycle races. I had never been there before but I had heard of their unpredictable and unprecedented wild weather. I booked a camping package where the football pitches on the island turn into makeshift campgrounds. I was going to be camping for just over two weeks and starting researching different types of tents to take over. I wanted to buy a tent in New Zealand instead of buying a random brand while over in the UK. I am a solo traveler so I didn't want a something too small but something big enough to be comfortable for a duration of time that could withstand the elements. I went to Equip Outdoors in Hamilton who helped me decide on a Kiwi Camping Kea 3 tent. They were very helpful and really informative about the tent and had only good things to say about it. I was a little concerned because I thought the more expensive the tent, the better quality, but they reassured me it was a good product and would be fine for the Isle of Man. I was one of the first to setup my tent on the football pitch while other setup their tents around me in the coming days. Over the two weeks there was some of the worst weather in years for the TT Isle of Man with many of the races cancelled or rescheduled. Many locals even told me it was the worst they've ever seen in the history of the races. The torrential rain and winds hammered the campground with many tents breaking or blowing away. I had quite a few restless nights where I thought the poles would snap with the gale force winds, but every morning I would wake up and find my tent in one piece while many other campers would have to resort to the clubrooms after their tents leaked or broke. Even with the rain and dew, I could touch the sides of the tent without it leaking. It was really cool to be a Kiwi with the big Kiwi Camping sign on the side of my tent. A lot of people that go to the Isle of Man races leave their tents behind for the locals to collect. I was planning to do further travel around Europe after the TT Isle of Man so I also decided to leave my tent behind. I gave my tent to the person running campground who offered to look after it and I can use it whenever and if ever I go back. I just want to say thank you for a good quality product that withstood the harsh elements of the Isle of Man and kept me warm and dry. Thanks again to the informative staff at Equip Outdoors who recommended Kiwi Camping. I highly recommend the tent, and from a first hand experience, it is really tough and durable and a great Kiwi tent! Regards Charlotte.
