Dome tents are incredibly easy to set up and come in a range of sizes so whether you need one for the night here and there or a family tent for the week long summer holiday, there is something for you. Details of important dome tent features are listed below to ensure you get the best tent for your needs.

1. BUY NEW ZEALAND DESIGN FOR NEW ZEALAND CONDITIONS
New Zealand has extremely diverse and changeable weather patterns, and it is vital that the weather has as little impact on your holiday as possible. Kiwi Camping has a wealth of knowledge of what performs to our temperamental conditions and what does not. Other brands could be great in fine weather or overseas conditions but are not designed for a range of elements that New Zealanders will experience when camping.

2. HIGH QUALITY PU COATED POLYESTER FABRIC
After years of research and knowledge of what performs and what doesn't, we have chosen to use a high density/high thread count polyester, PU coated facric. Simply applying a waterproof coating isn't enough to ensure long term performance of a tent's fabric. If the foundation fabric is not up to spec then the coating will not last.

The benefits are that our fabric is triple coated, 8 times more durable than nylon, is 50% more water resistant than other comparable tent fabrics, has outstanding UV resistance which means the tent will last longer than other fabrics due to high UV protection, is fire retardant - so is safer for you and your family, is water resistant up to 4000mm, has superior tensile strength, does not stretch or sag when wet like nylon fabric does and has a heavier, more quality feel than comparable fabrics due to the PU coating.

3. SUPERIOR WIND STABILITY DUE TO HYBRID STRUCTURAL SUPPORT SYSTEM
Kiwi Camping Co. large family dome tents use a unique combination of steel up-right poles and fibreglass poles. Without this, the large tents are very prone to distortion or flattening in New Zealand's strong winds. This system also allows greater volume within the tent as it holds the walls out more vertically.

4. LARGE DIAMETER FIBREGLASS POLES
Because Kiwi Camping Co. truly knows what is best when designing a dome tent, we use the largest diameter fibreglass poles, relative to the size of the tent. This ensures your tent won't be flattened when there is a slight gust of wind.

5. CLEAR PVC OVER WINDOWS
Clear PVC windows are quite a unique feature to our range of family domes. If your tent does not have this feature it could mean that you can feel more claustrophobic when you are stuck inside if it is wet or cold. You still have the privacy and ventilation, being able to control the other corresponding internal and external zipped flaps.

6. WET WEATHER PROTECTION
Most other big family domes and some small ones on the market fail in the fact they don't have any protection over the inner door way when it is wet. If you open the door on the fly - the rain comes straight in. On most of our tents we have a sunroom / vestibule out the front to protect the main door into the living area. This area also doubles as an extra room for a kitchen, dining and entertainment space.

7. FUNCTIONAL WINDOW PLACEMENT
Windows create a huge difference to the comfort and ventilation in a tent. We believe more is better when it comes to windows and aim to feature as many as possible on each tent. the windows on our tents are unique in the fact they include privacy screens, no-see-um bugscreen mesh, clear PVC windows and external storm flaps in various combinations throughout the dome tent range.

8. DOOR STORAGE POCKETS
All of our dome tents include door storage pockets by every inner tent door which means when you open a door, you can fold it away into its own pocket to keep it safe from damage and off the floor.

9. EFFECTIVE FRAME DESIGN WITH MINIMUM AMOUNT OF DIFFERENT FRAME PARTS
When people go camping, the priority is family time and relaxing - so nobody whats to spend more time than necessary setting up their tent. We make certain there are as few different parts as possible and colour code the poles so putting up the tent is not strenuous.
