The Great Annual Kiwi Camp Out

Wow, the 3rd of December was a hit...

Registrations to the Great Kiwi Camp Out rocketed over the last few weeks. With just short of 1,000 registered camp-outs involving camping numbers between 6,000 to 7,000 people. We thought this was a success here at Kiwi Camping Co and all the supporting sponsors; Family Parks, MoreFM, Tiptop, Omoto Fishing and Scouts NZ. Every New Zealander should have the opportunity to go camping! If getting into the outdoors with your family seems a bit daunting or time is limited, this Great Kiwi Camp Out demonstrated that people enjoy taking the time out of busy lifestyles to enjoy the more simple pleasures in life and getting back to basics. Well done everyone.

Since the 3rd of December we have had photos submitted and corrospondence on Camp Outs from the bottom of the South Island to the top of the North Island. What people got up to, where they camped and the fun they had. The weather in some parts of the country did not help to much, we've had photos of setting campsites up in the wind and rain and stories of backyard camping experiences moving indoors.

And of course, a winner to the $5,000 major prize package. On the 3rd of December a phone call to the randomly drawn winner resulted in leaving a message due to them being on camp... which of course... we were well aware this might of been the case but we certainly have had corrospondence with the winner since. Congradulations to Kathy from Mt Roskill who helps head up the Waikowhai Scouts. Kathy held there Camp Out at Waharau Regional Park Blackberry Campsite from the 2nd to the 4th of December and had 20 Cubs, Scouts and Venturers and Leaders exploring, hiking trails, swimming in the river and cooking their own meals.

The Camp Out still has some random prizes to draw so keep an eye out, you may have something turn up yet to reward you for your efforts.
